Launched in November 2007, the AGEA interface allows users to view spatial relationship maps based upon the gene expression data computed from 4,376 coronal image series in the ABA-Mouse Brain. The maps are derived from the previously calculated 3D gene expression volumes. Correlation between two spatial coordinates in the AGEA maps is a measure of higher co-expression between these locations. Common co-expression between regions may provide an indication of consistent anatomic structure, expression of similar or common cell types, potential function, or other neuroscientific interest.
New in July 2008, the Gene Finder feature is incorporated into AGEA allowing users to search for genes most closely correlated to the AGEA pattern being shown. Detailed documentation and the AGEA application can be found under the AGEA section of the Allen Brain Atlas-Mouse Brain project.
